SURREALIST PAINTER JAMES SEBOR
I was born on March 30th in
1957 and grew up in the
suburbs of Long Island NY.
Granted a fair amount of
freedom and autonomy by my
Parents, my imagination was
nurtured through hours of
creative play. Life was
Marvelous. I also spent many
hours in front of the TV set
absorbing a plethora of
characters in surreal worlds
brought to life on-screen by
extremely imaginative artists.
Akin to the Veristic
Surrealist painters, my
emphasis is on content. The
content is drawn from
intuition the profound plural
instinctual language of the
human species. I walk through
the mind's jungle of thoughts
to a subconscious stream that
runs into a collective
unconscious ocean. I fish for
objects to bring back to the
sketchbook or canvas. I
juxtaposition these internal
objects with external objects.
When finished, I sit back and
ponder the new painting
wondering what message this
new random concept may embody.
