Artist Statement:
I started creating my first
picture coats in the late
sixties surrounded by the
explosion of colour and
texture of that time. I am
mainly self taught and was
soon being commissioned and
selling my creations. I was
encouraged to do a foundation
course at art college which I
found rewarding but my own
momentum with what was
regarded by my tutors as a
very narrow direction took
over towards the end of the
year. My second major piece
created a few years later, in
my twenties, now forms part of
the V&A Contemporary Textile
Collection Ref: T738.
