Artist Statement:
A versatile artist proficient in oils, watercolors, pastels and acrylics, Johanna also is interested in a wide variety of subject matter. Whether she is capturing the gentle sparkle in the eyes of a smiling child or rendering the weathered texture of an adobe mission, the artist always brings a strong sense of color and design to her strikingly realistic works.

Things that may otherwise be taken for granted, or viewed as mundane, such as the morning sunlight streaming in through a kitchen window, can be a thing of beauty. I am energized and overjoyed by the sensation of perceiving light and color, and my paintings are all about that sensual joy." ...
