| Why Did You Become An Artist |
It was while I was recovering from illnes in late 2002 that I had an urge to paint. In February 2003 I purchased some canvas & paints, I picked up a stick and started painting in the traditional Australian Aboriginal manner. I had never really been interested in art until this time.
I am a self taught artist, I have never had any art training. |

It was late in 2002 while recovering from illness that I felt an urge to paint. At that time I did not understand where this feeling came from.
I was given a European education and had no communication with my people to learn my culture. During my working life I worked for Telstra as a Communications Officer and as a Supervisor for a Herbal company. Through my art I am learning more about my culture, promoting my art and communicating with people has given me more confidence in myself.
I paint primarily for myself and am very happy when others enjoy my work. I believe that the spirits of my ancestors are guiding me with my art and through my art, I can express the stories of not only the Dreamtime but of my family and my lifes journeys. As for my future in art I will be guided by my heart and the spirits.
