Artist Statement:
"Fresco" is Italian for "fresh." I use the ancient method of painting with fresh earth minerals, fresh water and fresh plaster. All this freshness creates carbonization, a chemical bond that can endure for centuries.

each fresco I paint. Frescoes age well. "Romanita" is an Italian concept of time that is not calculated by clocks or calendars, but through centuries. I strive for this connection in each of my frescoes.
I am exploring the variety of frescoes discovered throughout history. I am defining the fresco process by painting on stone, marble dust incorporated into canvas, marble slabs, ceramics, cement and cave walls. I am passionate about frescoes as a lost language of symbolism and as a timeless form of communication. Joy Baer, Fresco Artist...
