Artist Statement for John Salko

|
My art evolves from my creative desire to push the envelope of experimentation. I strongly believe “the growth of an artist" hinges on a questing vision, taking chances and pushing into un-charted waters. Whenever I paint, I feel an emotional and passionate connection to life, in order to instill a vibrancy in my work. In keeping my work fresh, I am free to express my emotions without being boxed into repetition, yet my work is identifiable by the design, rich colors and finished appearance of each one of kind piece. Using "color as the communicator", my medium is oil or acrylic paint sealed with a poly finish on wooden panels. Along with painting colorful works, I enjoy painting works of “black and white”.
