Artist Statement:
I enjoy the challenge of new
approaches and different
media. I have worked in pure
transparent watercolor,
acrylic on canvas and mixed
media.
My approaches to painting
range from realistic to
completely nonobjective.
Light, color, shapes and
texture are what count.
Subject matter is secondary.
A cantaloupe rind is as good
as a landscape.
Although people think of
photographs as documenting
reality, I prefer to use them
to document unreality. For
example, in my Cliffdwellers
series windows appear in cliff
sides. I also like to distort
photographs into pure
abstraction.
