Artist Statement:
As far back as I can remember,I was disassembling jewelry, playing with fishing swivels and making my own inventions from these parts. As a child, art came naturally to me. Unfortunately, it was only taught once a week in elementary school. When I turned fourteen, I took my first metalsmithing class, and with one ignition of a blow torch I had found my path in life.
For the next four years, I poured my heart and soul into metalsmithing in high school art classes. I went on to the Fashion Institute of Technology in N.Y.C. and graduated in 1993 with a degree in Jewelry and Gems. Realizing there weren't too many jewelers doing enamel, I took a one day workshop in Ancient Byzantine Enameling and taught myself from then on, always experimenting with new things and new ideas.
By the time I was 20, I had started my own jewelry business filling custom jewelry orders and selling my work in galleries which I continue to do this day. Jewelry and art are my lifes work and passion. I do hope my jewelry brings you as much joy as it does me creating!...
