Artist Statement:
As far back as I can remember I was making my own creations from disassembled jewelry and fishing swivels. When I was 14, I took my first metal-smithing class and with one ignition of a blowtorch I had found my path in life. I went on to graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a degree in jewelry and gems. Realizing there weren't many jewelers working with enamel, I decided to learn the ancient Byzantine technique of cloisonné enameling. One of the first designs I created as a self-taught enamelist was the Evil Eye, which became one of my signature pieces twenty years ago. Since then my design has been imitated by other enamelists who recognize the vitality and appeal of this timeless talisman.
My work is a fusion of powdered glass and precious metal into miniature paintings that bring bold accents of color to the human canvas on which they are worn.
I design and fabricate all my jewelry from my home studio in Western Colorado. To maintain the integrity of my work, I am the sole creator of each piece from start to finish. ...
