Artist Statement:
I began creating three-dimensional art over 35 years ago in college in Kansas and Arizona. My mixed media wall sculptures are acrylic on wood with added fiber, metal or glass. I have also worked in sandblasting of wood, granite and glass. Some of my work has been up to 30 foot long, designed in overlapping sections so the depiction is seamless and the size unlimited.
The combination of two forms of art is what intrigues me. The interconnected sculptural part is very satisfying but they really don't come alive until I paint them.People have said that my wildlife pieces, fish, turtles, moose and bear have a human-like quality in their faces. At one time I did some art work for an Ocular Prosthetic Dr. in New York where I painted the hundreds of variations in iris colors for use in artificial eyes. Who knew that experience would end up enhancing the eyes of sea turtles and Moose?
As a certified Scuba Diver I am so inspired with the underwater creatures, blessed to be swimming with them and painting them to share with others. I continue to interpret beautiful landscapes in my three-dimensional style and will ...
