Angeles County High School For
The Arts University of
Arizona, bachlers in fine arts
Karen Pike is a uniquely
talented rising star on the
art scene. She has created
many pieces during her career
and the art displayed here is
a culmination of her lifetime
of painting. It includes an
eclectic mix of the artists'
favorite pieces. After
graduating from University
Arizona with a bachelors
degree in fine arts, Her work
is expressive but loose with
bold brush strokes and lots of
movement, her art really
moves! There's the presence of
duality in a lot of her
paintings and multiple stories
in her pictures which inspires
each collector seasoned or
aspiring personal
interpretation with each of
her pieces. However, each
piece commands strength and
stability by holding that
delicate stroke of structure
by the tip of her brush and
her use of strong vibrant
colors.
She has been featured at many
art shows, festivals,
galleries and exhibitions in
Laguna,San Degio, New York,
throughout the Southwest and
as far away as Japan ...

For those of us who love the finer things in life, there are few pleasures greater than fresh and provocative cuisine, paired with world-class wines that perfectly accentuate the experience.
A landmark event in our community, the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival, will be held this coming November 10 - 13 at the Embarcadero Park NORTH, in downtown San Diego, The Westgate Hotel, and Macy's Cooking School. This incredible event will blend the best of both worlds in a four-day extravaganza catering to the wine and food aficionado in all of us. All proceeds from the event auctions will go directly to the American Institute of Wine and Food (AIWF) which helps individuals realize their potential in the food and beverage industry through a scholarship fund.
This festival, which is unprecedented in its scope in San Diego, will feature classes and seminars on wine tasting, wine and food pairings, and cooking classes by celebrity and local chefs. Wednesday and Thursday evenings will feature several wine-paired dinners at San Diego's finest restaurants.
Thursday and Friday will feature cooking classes at Macy's School of Cooking and tasting classes at The Westgate Hotel. The Westgate Hotel will also be the host to a trade pouring on Friday afternoon. Friday evening, attendees will enjoy tasting reserve wines accompanied by a silent auction. This four-day festival will culminate on Saturday with The Grand Event, an elegant afternoon where wine and food aficionados are given the opportunity to sample the delicious fare from over 100 wineries, San Diego's finest restaurants, gourmet food products and festival exhibitors, with a live auction of large format bottles and more.

Karen Pike is pleased to share a new series of paintings with admirers of her art. She is using a fresh pallet with lustrous earth tones .The new paintings while reminiscent of her earlier works are every bit as charming as the more recent and fun loving wine Series. While collectors never seemed to tire of her infinite take on the wines, Karen was ready to expand her horizons. In any case, she is ambitious, and her new work reveals a sophisticated awareness of the forces at play in the contemporary art world. In these new works, Ms. Pike is her most accomplished, exuberant and bright.
It is apparent to the viewer that each new piece is executed with an attitude of nonchalance, and with an obvious joy taken in paint and painting. She recently described her approach: I feel that my paintings are very specifically influenced by Mondrian’s use of segments and color. They stretch beyond their borders so that each painting seems a fragment of a larger cosmos. The work acquires a second, illusory, scale by which the distances between points on the canvas seem measurable in miles.
Karen is part of a group of Los Angeles artists that are evolving before our very eyes. Her oeuvre is an impression of styles informed by current and past experiences This diverse body of work caused a sensation when it was first shown to collectors in her native Los Angeles, and should rightfully cement Ms. Pike as an artist to watch.
