Artist's Statement:
My paintings are an emotional response to the landscape, simplified to express the serenity of open space and the weight of the atmosphere, but also containing a dark undertone of mystery or loss, attached to our experience of nature.
They range from the contemplative to the dramatic in mood, drawing the viewer
into the scene as a lone observer. I de-emphasize content, preferring that pictorial objects seem to merge with the air and the light, but there is still a sense of place, time and season in the paintings.
