Artist Statement:
An English Artist born in 1961 in Nottinghamshire.Now with home and studio gallery in a tiny village in Derbyshire in the heart of England.
A professional artist specialising in colourful, atmospheric, quirky and often surreal landscapes in watercolour. Living and working in a village in Derbyshire surrounded by beautiful countryside I am never short of inspiration. I am passionate about skies, the moodier the better and I enjoy the unpredictability of watercolours.
My latest work is often surreal in that they are all places I have visited but have painted them how they could look in a different world! These are often mistaken for acrylics owing to their colour and depth. I do however love to create texture. I enjoy using different types of salts, squirting lots of water and then waiting to see the results. I like the contrast then between a solid sky and a textured foreground.
My passion for walking gives me the opportunity to acquire some amazing photographs and the landscapes I have painted are mainly from photos taken whilst out walking; they all mean something to me. Some are places from my childhood and some are newly discovered. Derbyshire is so varied in its ...
