Artist Statement:
P h i l o s o p h y
I have spent many a
year making, forming, pulling,
pushing clay to do what I
wanted it to do. I would often
feel that I was violating the
nature of this naturally
organic material. Clay
naturally wants to dip, fold,
crack, shrink and so on when
it is being worked into a
piece. After exploring the
idea of allowing the clay to
dictate to me how it wanted to
be shaped and formed, the
effects were dynamic. As you
can see, by viewing the photos
on the samples page, my work
has this organic quality which
I find very exciting,
intoxicating, yet at the same
time peaceful....
