| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
This is difficult! Nature is ever so important to me - flowers, trees, birds, insects, furry animals, lizards - whatever is there. But so too are people and their structures. All these things inspire me.
Then there are the inspirations provided by the great artists, and some not so famous but who have dedicated their lives to their art.
Only recently I discovered the works of the Australian artist, George Lambert, who was extremely talented and versatile. if only one could achieve his heights. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I've always loved art. I enjoyed drawing and painting as a child and always wanted to succeed. I have always wanted my works to be hung for people to see them, but most important of all is the feelings that I have in creating my works. |

| Your Personal Biography |
I was born and educated in Leningrad, USSR - now St Petersburg, Russia. Graduating in Computer Engineering with the highest award, I finally worked in the State Russian Museum publishing department.
There, while producing high quality art books, I absorbed much art theory and hundreds of images of Russian masters went past my eyes. it was wonderful that I could visit galleries of the Russian Museum and the Hermitage which hold some of the world’s finest art works.
Three years after migrating to Australia, I held my first solo exhibition “Versatility of Acrylics”, 2003 in Goulburn. It was a great success and contained 23 paintings in acrylics with a big variety of subjects including landscapes, flowers, animals and portraiture. Since then I've had two more solo exhibitions in Goulburn and Wollongong, and am working towards another at the end of this year.
I have had my works selected for hanging in the Herald Sun Rotary Camberwell Exhibition (2007), in the Canberra Show, and each year in the Sydney Royal Easter Show, and every exhibition at Juanitas Studio-Gallery in Austinmer, NSW and various other competitions and exhibitions. I won First Prize in the oils section of the Goulburn traditional Art competition 2007.
One of the greatest and most enjoyable challenges, I find, is to paint portraits by commission. To 'catch' the person in my work is always a thrill - both for me and the client. I like to think of it becoming an important family heirloom to be passed down through generations. In fact I like to think of all my paintings being passed on through families and to be appreciated in the same way that I know the buyers of my works have appreciated them.
During these past 6 years in Australia I have been changing my media from watercolors, to acrylic and more recently to oils which are fast becoming my favorite. |
