Artist Statement:
Karen Tenni is an innovative photographer born and raised in Cairns (Qld). and completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts (honours), specialising in Photography, at the University of South Australia School of Art.
Interested in a variety of photographic methods and styles, several re-occurring themes occour in her work - domesticity, femininity, architectural and abstract. Karen is also involved in facilitating practical workshops and curating fine art exhibitions.
Karen has exhibited her work throughout Adelaide and South Australia, including SEAS Gallery (Adelaide), Zest Café Gallery (Glenelg), South Coast Regional Arts Centre (Goolwa, SA) and selected for the 2003 Helpman Grad Show. Since 1999, Karen has also received several awards, including equal runner up in 2004 Not Only Black + White/ M-one11 Student Photography Competition, and was an Artist-in-residence for 2 years at the Parks Art Studios in Adelaide.
Living in regional Queensland, Karen is pursuing her fine art photography practice, and exploring portraiture and landscape genres in addition to her re-occurring themes....
