Artist Statement for Michael Kehrlein
|
|
|
My paintings enable you the the viewer and me the artist to become more involved in the human condition, the exploration of secrets and various
details, generating an intimacy in people. The result can often be tense with
An obvious stiffness, esoteric with deep hidden very private manifestations, an
Obscure gesture, an ambiguous regard,or more expressive and pragmatic.
My work explores the difference between our instincts and intellect and the effect that difference has had on our behavior.
I want to be as articulate as possible in my painting so I use oils, which I
find best suited to reveal the enigmatic messages of my compositions. The
gamut of colors, vast and complex, are stimulating in their agility to ignite the
viewer. Oil produces nuances elucidating the diverse elements presented in the
tableaux.
My paintings have grown out of a need to explore the subtle but poignant world
of profound human feelings.
