Artist Statement for Karen Hirsch

|
|
Elements that I consider essential to excellent visuals are composition, lighting, color and texture. Another element which is essential in depicting life is the decisive moment - whether it’s a child’s expression or the height of action in a sports photo.
These elements are important in my images. In addition, I look for simplicity in composition to convey an idea, a mood, or an action. Simplicity enables the artist to communicate more effectively .
Although the range of my subject matter is extensive, the graphic elements within my photographs unite them as one body of work.
