Artist Statement:
Those bigger than life concepts are the ones I like to tackle in my work. I love surrealism. I enjoy the idea of extracting these corporal, neurological, galactic, cellular, landscapes and portraits from my subconscious space and try to make that literal.
The imagery, as eclectic as that previous list may seem, relates to the way I see the world around me. I think very holistically, observe objectively, and stumble upon congruence in surprising places. Recently my art has become especially scientific and organic in response to the ongoing war between science and some organized religions. This conflict is a good example of what I am trying to say: They see their conflict as just because they are opposing forces; I see their conflict as silly because they are trying to do the same thing, find answers.

| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
Images of the world and universe in microscopic scales all the way to incomprehensible vastness of space.
My work deals with something that concerns, facsinates, or baffles me about the world. |

| Your Personal Biography |
As soon as I could hold a pencil, my mother says I was drawing. Born in 1987, remaining an only child, I kept myself entertained outside in Vermont woods playing pretend or coloring inside quietly listening to The Beatles or Bob Marley. In middle school and high school it expanded into dance, theater, guitar, photography. In that experience I learned that all those mediums are striving towards the same goal. I thought for a moment in college that I was a psychology major and art minor, but the first year made it clear that was not enough. Having to choose a focus medium seemed impossible after having already put performance arts on the backburner. While I plan to pursue many things and have many passions, creating things with my hands is something I consider essential to my survival. |
