Artist Statement:
My name is Karim Nada, I was born in Alexandria on the first of October 1972.
Alexandria is 210 km north of Cairo the capital of Egypt in 1974, my father moved to Kuwait to work.
In 1976 when I was three years and half, the doctors discovered that I have a hearing problem, as there were no proper hearing tests at that time in Kuwait, my family took me to France and the United Kingdom.
Dr.l.a.fish, in the Nuffield speech and hearing center (London), advised my mother that I should go to normal school near my family rather than attending boarding school in the United Kingdom as they suggested. His advice was based on the result of the hearing tests that he conducted.
He also advised her that I should learn to speak my mother tongue. He described for me the proper hearing aids and I started my life in normal school with the help of my family, teachers, speech therapists and friends.
