Shanghai Series Collection
Main Concept
A new series of exceptional paintings seeks to get under the skin of modern Shanghai, capturing not the bombastic and the clichéd but instead the highly individual – a fleeting moment,a reflex action or a brief conversation. It deconstructs the constant interaction of humans in this vast city,breaking the complexities of life down into mere scraps of time or fractions of memories.
Gary.Tankf’s latest series combines his interest with the intimate and immediate with a playful
commentary on the plethora of people inhabiting China’s most arresting and riotous city. Continuing his signature use of bold colours and evocative subtext, his works convey his everpresent struggle for discovery alongside new and potent explorations of sensuality and a biting sense of humour. This combined with new-found inspirations from Pop-Art makes this not only Gary.Tankf’s most controversial, but also his most accomplished exhibition yet.
Gary.Tan KF Is currently living in Shanghai, China.
Gary.Tan KF, painting since the age of 8, was inspired by the abundant paddy fields and the charismatic fishermen's village of his hometown, Tanjung Karang Malaysia.
In KF’s paintings, the viewer is captured by the flow of lines & configuration. KF’s paintings does not attempt to capture recognizable images, but rather the emotional response to the subject.
Gary.Tan KF emerges as an artist who transposes his own personal and emotional responses into single works of abstract yet evocative fine art. Tan translates the otherwise overly complex human emotion into a dance of vivacious colorings and free roaming textures.
