Krassimir Kolev
born 1969 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
He started his artstudies in Bulgaria but in 1991 he moved to Vienna, Austria, to attend the Academy of Art. He first studied for Joannis Avramidis and then Michelangelo Pistoletto. He got his Master of Art degree in 1998. Now he lives in Sweden together with his wife Lena and their daughter Matilda.
Krassimir’s paintings are realistic with an hyperrealistic touch. His paintings are often emotional and expressive. The figures in his paintings express more presence than action. He communicates through a modern Christian symbolism combined with a classical technique. He belives that art is the language of the heart and therefore he wants to create art that is not only attractive but also meaningful and expressive. Through his art he wants to communicate aesthetical values but also his own values, thoughts and experiences.
