Artist Statement:
Born in 1962 in Miastko, 1982-87 studies at the Painting and Graphic Department of the State Academy of Visual Arts in Gdansk under Prof.Kazimierz Ostrowski.
Awards and Scholarschips:
1988, 1990- One- year scholarship of Ministry of Culture and Art,
1992/93- Scholarship of DAAD in Athelierhaus Worpswede, Germany
1993- Distinction in Polish Contemporary Painting Competition "Bielsko-Biala Autumn'93,
1996- Ziemowit Szuman prize and President of Szczecin- in XVI Festival of Conemporary Polish Painting, Szczecin
2000- Pollock-Krasner Foundation Scholarship - New York- USA
Residuum, in alchemy remnants after a process of sublimation, another name: caput mortuum (acc. to Kopalinski 1. dead head, 2. residuum, i.e. muddy residue, remains, mineral colour ferric oxide received from ferric sulphate used in ancient painting).
Alchemy the view of the world focused on the search for the primary form of matter through chemical processes in which disintegration lead to the purification of live substance, depriving this substance of its specific features, thus reducing them to the primary matter (materia prima E? the original matter).
