Painting and Graphic
Department of the State
Academy of Visual Arts in
Gdansk under Prof.Kazimierz
Ostrowski.

Residuum, in alchemy remnants
after a process of
sublimation, another name:
caput mortuum (acc. to
Kopalinski 1. dead head, 2.
residuum, i.e. muddy residue,
remains, mineral colour
ferric oxide received from
ferric sulphate used in
ancient painting).
Alchemy the view of the world
focused on the search for the
primary form of matter through
chemical processes in which
disintegration lead to the
purification of live
substance, depriving this
substance of its specific
features, thus reducing them
to the primary matter (materia
prima E? the original matter).
Process, technology, search
and experiment in my artistic
work have overlapped with my
interests in philosophy and
