Artist Statement for Jamie Hartman
|
|
|
I focus on the texture and patterns created naturally by the paint as it interacts on the canvas. I think of myself as less of a painter and more of a scientist. I am experimenting with paint as a medium, and adding various liquids or powders to my mixtures to create different textural effects. I pour out the combinations of color and chemical directly on the painting surface. I add a multitude of layers on some works, while others are a single pour. My goal is to create fields of abstract texture and color that transport you to different worlds
