Artist Statement for Kelly Zalenski

|
I want to capture moments & motion in bold colors and high contrast lines reminiscent of my influences while developing my own personal style that is reflected in each piece I create.
I prefer to work in acrylics on canvas creating original contemporary pieces. My subjects include bold, sometimes abstract cityscapes, seascapes, koi ponds and popular landmarks in my community. Recently I have been painting scenes from Ohio State Buckeye games, capturing the action or the moment in bold lines and colors. Many of my pieces concentrate on motion and line. I studied animation and am still fascinated on the art of capturing movement with line. My main professional influence is Pop artist Keith Haring.
