Artist Statement:
My work examines my everyday
experiences and emotions. It
is my way of understanding my
feelings, working through
problems and generally
celebrating life’s challenges
and triumphs. I am also a
dreamer (both REM and DAY). I
find that much of the time my
inspiration finds me through
my dreams. These elements play
off of each other and join
together unexpectedly. In
that way my art is all
connected, it is about life
and emotion.
To create my paintings I
often begin with little more
than the impulse to create. I
then reflect upon the current
events in my life, my dreams,
and my emotions to find more
specific inspirations,
concepts, or ideas. Eventually
I sketch out the idea or
experiment with colors,
analyze subject matter, set up
materials and paint. Once I
get going the process looks
something like: Paint. Stop.
Think. Paint some more. Get
overly emotional. Repeat until
painting is finished.
