Reviews for J. Coleman Miller:

InfusionGallery
J. Coleman Miller unveils a series of digital photography abstract prints for his first solo show “Apparitions from Blu Lagoon.” Of the 100+ images stemming from this photographer’s lifetime vision of finding the perfect combination of art and technology, 25 were selected as most compelling. Miller’s works convey a deep sense of emotional connection, touching viewers with engaging, dreamlike images and unearthing darker, ghostly scenes as though from a childhood nightmare. This collection of large canvas giclée prints feel more like impressionistic paintings and claims to make Los Angeles its first stop as part of a worldwide tour. Could this be true? Infusion Gallery, Tuesday thru Saturday from 12 – 6 pm. 719 South Spring Street. (213) 683-8827

Dear J. Coleman Miller,
We are glad to inform you that the Artistic Committee of "Spirit, The Spirit in Art”, art exhibition that will take place on November 2007 at the Imbarcadero Rooms of the beautiful Estense Castle.
Having seen and appreciated your images published on your website, has decided to select your name to participate at this signifigant event organized by Paola Trevisan Contemporary Art in collaboration with ArtexArte Foundation.
We've been fascinated by your suggestive and refined digital photos like “Peace Pipe", “Pamplona", “One night in Kingston” and “Condor and Lizard” where imagination and abstractism dialogue with great force in your images. We truly believe your fine art photography will apport a creative interpretation to the theme proposed by this exhibition, enriching the whole manifestation.
By congratulating you for the quality of your works, we would like to invite you to read the presentation text of the exhibition and the full terms and conditions of "Spirit. The Spirit in Art" you will find visiting our following links:
"J. Coleman Miller's giclée prints occupy an ambiguous space between photographic abstraction and highly stylized representation. Certain small components remain so close to recognizable images that they
stretch and tease our desire for closure to its breaking point. Miller uses his titles to extenuate this uncertainty: they prescribe a specific reading to each image, a reading that is simultaneously made impossible by the photographs' levels of abstractions.
Miller thereby creates a spirit of free play in which the images are liberated from the confines of linear interpretation, inviting viewers to take part in the production of meaning. Giving into the abstract aspects of the photographs, their strong colors and dynamic distortions convey energy and sensation. Instead of representing a specific place, action or object, they evoke sudden outbursts of emotion, moments of fleeting intensity. This expressive component of Miller's work, however, is never completely stable. Rather than suggesting a final emotional equation, his works lead the viewer into a continuous game of re-imagining."

The exhibition opened and opened well, the quality of the artwork is very high... I received good critics from artists and visitors! Sunday was a very good day for affluence and visitors inquired often about prices and information about artists. The first days of the week are a bit quieter but I'm expecting great affluence during the week end. Your works are beautiful! I gave you extra spaces as they deserved it!
