Artist Statement:
My work is primarily
figurative. I explore the
relationship of the figure in
its environment. The process
is one of push and pull,
adding and subtracting paint.
Much of the time, the pieces
create themselves as I
partially camouflage them in a
protective or disguised
environment as animals do in
nature. This can either bury
or reveal them. Layering by
using different references, I
see these works as ‘bodymasks’
that protect or expose a
figure giving it new life. ...
