Artist Statement:
Christine Montague http://www.christinemontague.co m and http:www, aheckofanartist.com christine@aheckofanartist.com
Christine is an award winning, academically trained artist who paints representational, realism oil paintings of figures, usually children in the landscape, pure landscape, and portraitur painting.
Christine’s paintings are often recognised for their unusual viewpoint of either looking up at the subject, or at being at eye level with a subject that one would normally look down at. The children in her paintings are often seen as if from behind so that viewers are given the illusion they are participating in the journey of the subject. The fact that Christine is accomplished in painting such large canvases (as well as small) also contributes to this illusion.
Christin Montague is also an accomplished portrait painter and a passionate photographer.

| Your Personal Biography |
Christine Montague is an award winning Canadian artist who paints representational, realistic oil paintings of children, landscapes and the two combined (referred to as scenic figurative or figurative landscape oil painting). Christine often paints subject matter that is 'usual' in an unusual manner - either because of scale or view point. Christine is also known for her portraiture oil painting and accepts portrait painting commissions- her most recent being the larger than life Oscar Peterson portrait that now hangs in the Living Arts Centre, Mississauga. Christine's reputation as a fine art nature photographer is growing and will have her first two solo photography shows early 2008. Her photography show The Hidden Garden is part of 2008 Contact Toronto Photography Festival.
Academically trained in the fine arts (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art & Art History, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Bachelor of Science, Biology with Minor in Studio Art & Art History, Concordia), Christine has also completed extensive studies in illustration, communication & design at Ontario College of Art and Design, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She had a brief residency doing lithography at St. Michael's Workshop, when it was located outside of St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador. She has taken numerous workshops in watercolor painting , art business, and fictional writing.
Christine is one of the original members of Beaux- Arts Brampton, an artists co-operative in downtown Brampton, Ontario. She maintained her artist studio there from 2002 - 2004, was on the Beaux-Arts Brampton Board, and wrote the B.A.B. Bulletin. From 2004 - 2006 Christine painted out of her studio/gallery at the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre & was an executive on the Williams Mill Board , Glen Williams, Halton Hills, Ontario. In 2007, tired of travelling to create, she began work out of her Mississauga home studio.
