Artist Statement for Uriy Lavrentiev
|
|
|
Many well-known art critics in Russia value the works by U.Lavrentev high
and say that he is "a master of a complicated allegoric painting", an artist
"who creates his own mythological and poetical conception of life".
The works by U.Lavrentev draw attention not only because they are
whimsically decorative, but because they are philosophically monumental as
well. Some of his artworks at the same time remind you of ancient cuneiform
and of modern picture-writing, they give an impression of some sense lines
reflected in symbols and of wonderful colorful patterns and traceries,
giving you pleasure by complex play on colors and forms.
The works by U.Lavrentev can be found in State Art Museum in Saratov, in the
Ministry of Culture of Russia, and also in galleries and private collections
in Russia, Latvia, Germany, Belgium, the USA, the UK, the Netherlands and
others.
