Artist Statement:
I feel it’s the challenge that keeps me going, and the overwhelming self-satisfaction in finishing a piece. Even though I am very passionate about carousel animals, I prefer not to restrict my creativity to one subject matter or one medium. My commissioned work consists of portraits, landscapes and still life. Whether I’m working in oils, water color, colored pencil, airbrush or gilding . . . My passion for creating art has never wavered!
My interest in Art started at a very early age. By the age of six, I was designing and coloring my own cut out dolls and their clothes. My three years of Commercial Art schooling showed me all aspects of the visual arts. But I did fined myself leaning more and more towards the finer expressions of art. In my senior year I entered one piece of artwork ( a pen & ink portrait ) in a county wide scholarship contest promoted by the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. To my, and my teachers dismay, the portrait was rejected. Reason: They felt I had professional help with it. On the contrary, I was just a perfectionist.
