A study of inner conflict examining, through visual discussion, human spirituality, deeply embracing non conformity in a world of convenient morals L D Thompson exploits simple core thought into the question of the soul verses a tangible existence. Each sculpture contains deeply inter woven expressions hidden from the obvious view. Solid single strand wire sculpting allows a sense of haunting endlessness. Each wrap, twist, curve and bend ties one to the notion that a pull on the end of the wire, where ever it maybe, would stretch that wire into a lifetime.
Each LaVern David Thompson sculpture shown is a unique, handmade, and original. The process uses a solid single strand wire coil method. The sculpture is formed with the object (shell, glass, stone, ect.) included. The object is then removed and the wire hand painted to ensure coverage of the wire and the coils. The object is then placed back in the piece and coated with a polyurethane clear coating, once again hand brush applied giving a glass like finish.
