Artist Statement:
Gates of Paris is a unique
collection of handcrafted
jewelry by designer David
Maurer, based on classic
French and European designs.
We travel the byways of
Europe, visiting old jewelry
manufacturers and seeking out
molds and findings that
haven't been used for over a
century. Most of our pieces
come from original molds made
in France and England between
1830 and 1910. We re-cast them
by hand in antiqued silver,
antiqued rose gold vermeil,
14k and 18k yellow gold & rose
gold. These vintage findings
are combined with a variety of
semi-precious stones and
pearls in unique hybrid
classic/modern designs for
necklaces, earrings and
bracelets. You'll find
animals, cherubs, crosses,
shields, fleur de lis,
escutcheons, cartouches,
grotesques and more...
