Artist Statement:
Legassi Brumbaugh has lived in the Austin area most of her life. Her artwork is inspired by African American history, culture and heritage. While her earlier works featured strong representational graphite and charcoal drawings, her latest works are more of a loose abstraction of form in a sea of color. A majority of her works are with watercolor and charcoal. Legassi also uses egg tempera, graphite and oil. Her influences are the late Dr. John T. Biggers and Paul Goodnight....
