Artist Statement:
I was brought up in the South
Wales valleys, somewhere
between the green of the
hillsides and the grey of the
sky. I am fluent in my mother
tongue and went to a Welsh
language school until the age
of sixteen. Not the most
studious of pupils, my
interests, even at an early
age were in the arts. I went
on to study Art and Design at
a local college and found a
flair for fashion and clothing
design. In 1999 I grew bored
of my homeland and headed for
the bright lights of London to
start my degree in Costume
Design for the theatre.
During my degree I saw a lot
more of the world than I had
ever anticipated, having
always been an avid traveller
I now got the opportunities to
visit new places and meet new
people as something more than
a tourist. As well as short
excursions to various places
around the British isles and
research trips to cities such
as Amsterdam, Stuttgart and
Paris, I was given the chance
of living in Barcelona for
three months whilst Joining
with the Institute del Teatre
for a project. A truly
cosmopolitan city I met people
