Garrett Yamasaki's recent collection aptly entitled Still, allows us to stop. The photographs are luminous and with a painterly quality. They have a Taoist emptiness. A freeing and meditative quality that fixes you to the spot, and draws you in. As the sky dissolves into the sea, you feel yourself dissolving into his photographs. Your corporeal self ceases to exist, and you are infused with a profound calm.
