Artist Statement for Garrett Yamasaki
|
|
|
An emerging artist, Garrett Yamasaki balances the meeting point between spirituality and metropolitan lifestyle. His work suggests an influence of Eastern philosophy, religion, and design.
As with his most recent collection, "Still", his pieces manifest a motionless concept intimately fused in a culture of perpetual movement. Subtle undertones of Buddhism and Taoist methodology flow throughout each piece, evoking a quiet, meditative, and reflective state of mind. Stark laminated board mounting suitably compliments the large scale printing to enhance these expansive scenes and envelop the viewer with a calming sense of oneness and tangibility.
