Artist Statement:
Art has to do with what’s
happening around us in our
time.
That is true, but it’s also
true that there are realities
that transcend fashion and the
time that we live in. Those
realities don’t depend on the
technology that we use to
express ourselves.
The subject matter that I’m
interested in has to do with
energy, spontaneity, courage
and fearlessness in the
execution. I’ve chosen oil
painting as my medium because
I feel that it’s the best
technology at hand in order to
express the values stated
above. My expression is
abstract in order that the
viewer not be distracted with
representation. The painting
is what it is.
One day a lady criticized
Matisse because she claimed
that his painting didn’t look
like her. He answered saying
that he had not painted a
lady, he had painted a
painting.
