Artist Statement:
LESLIE NOLAN
Leslie Nolan has been painting for 12 years, using acrylic, oil and watercolor. In March 2006 Elan magazine featured her work on its cover, along with an in-depth article. The “Washington Post” ran a photograph and notice of her “Best in Show” award-winning painting in its June 29, 2007 edition.
Nolan's work has been included in the collection of the American Embassy at Luanda, Angola and in private collections throughout the U.S. Her paintings have been accepted in international and national juried exhibitions, as well as juried shows throughout the Washington, DC area.
In June 2007 she was awarded Best in Show at ArtReston, a juried exhibition in Reston Virginia. Nolan has won many awards in local art competitions, including Best in Show and the prestigious Clemente Award in 2005 at the Art League in Alexandria, VA. She has had numerous solo exhibitions throughout the local area. In addition, she has exhibited at galleries in the regional Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas, particularly at the Art League Gallery in the Torpedo Factory at Alexandria, Virginia; Strathmore Hall in Bethesda, Maryland; Greater Reston Art Center (GRACE) in Reston; and Artworks Gallery in Reston.
