Artist Statement for Leslie Nolan
|
|
|
Leslie Nolan's work features a riot of striking color with graphic punch to make personal contemporary imagery. Her figures convey raw emotion by skewing the form of the figure. She abstracts features and uses pulsating color.
Nolan's paintings exude emotional ambiguity. Each one tells a story, but the artist refrains from connecting all the dots. She leaves it up to the viewer to make a personal interpretation.
Her figures are stripped of pretense. The stand apart. They're vulnerable. Each leaves a lasting impression.
