Artist Statement:
I like to find new life in old, found items. I perform a kind of plastic or reconstructive surgery on the materials that I find in thrift stores and other like places, refinishing and refreshing their skin with spray enamel or acrylic paint and reforming and improving their shapes with ...

| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
My inspiration comes from any artist that stands out from the norm and does their own thing, such as Calder, Basquiat, Rauschenberg, or Picasso. They kind of thumb their noses at convention and follow their own muse. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I don't think I had a choice. It has always been inside of me on some level. In a way, I've come back to art recently, having failed to find a home in the worlds of higher education and special education teaching. Art has become my reborn savior and spiritual refuge. |

| Your Personal Biography |
I was born outside of Chicago, but have lived in Los Angeles for most of my life. I turned fifty in May of 2007, and have been making art for as long as I can remember. I have a doctorate degree in educational psychology from UCLA and a special education teaching credential. I have taught special education students for 16 years and have taught college classes at night on and off for about ten years. I came back to making art full time about four years ago and having been increasingly showing it for the same period. |
