Artist Statement:
ARTIST STATEMENT: I am most impressed with the impressionists -
especially Van Gogh, Cassatt. I love to enjoy the spaces -
either between objects, shadows, positive/negative backgrounds
and foregrounds. Actually, I have experienced something in paint-
ing that I thought I would never do; that is to paint a crucifix-
ion acene, as it had been addressed from many angles and treat-
ments already, and so very well. There is quite a story about
how this painting came about. It involves a woman who was also
a painter having an extraordinary experience seeing a vision of
this painting in brown tones. I began a strange palette (for me)
representative of a Benedictine wine bottle which had to be re-
cognizable. The bottle was in red, green, buff leather color,
and white. I would be happy to share an e-mail of the paint-
ing if you write and request that from my e-mail (lila19@
charter.net). My main interest is in either painting or
sculpting figures of near 1860 and later or mostly the Victorian
period. Of activities like picnics, bathing, children at play.
I hope to share pictures of my sculpture work, also. I have a
Hopi Indian dancing...
