| Why Did You Become An Artist |
Consciously, when I realised the potential healing power of the arts to
a world that has lost its center and sense of wonder. To be a reflection in some humble way of
the Creator of all that is, seen and unseen. |

| Your Personal Biography |
Born in Texas, 1947. Began drawing, painting, sculpting, and writing poetry as a teenager. Many conflicts with parents who expected me to become a doctor. College in California: a year and a half of Pre-Med (hard science)making the Dean's list. Switched to Fine Art and Psychology and was disowned, forcing me to work where I became ill from ethylene chloride poisoning at my job. Dropped out and began wandering through many odd jobs
including a morgue, institutional cook, truck driver, quarry worker, machinist, sign artist, pool table mechanic, foreign car mechanic, hospital orderly, surgeon's assistant, carpenter, house painter, and eventually jewelry designer. First exhibited at International Gallery in 1974. Met an old-world master who painted a lot like El Greco who told me to 'think high'. And so, I have endeavored. After 25 years in New Orleans, getting married and being a jewelry designer, the levees broke flooding my home and studio. Evacuated to the Atlanta area, regrouped, found a gallery and currently working to rebuild portfolio. Recently awarded a grant from the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, NYC. |
