Artist Statement:
Working predominantly in oil
on canvas, Lisa V Robinson's
practice explores and
celebrates painting as an
physical and sensual process.
This has stemmed from an
attraction to the sensuous
nature of oil paint, in
particular, the tactile
sensation of applying gestural
brushwork and observing the
paint flow freely as
watercolour down the canvas
surface. A variety of sources
influence her work, including;
architecture, graffiti, music
and nature. The resulting
composition is rhythmic and
vibrant; loops of colour,
quickly executed brush
strokes, drips of diluted
paint, all of which combine to
animate the otherwise flat
surface of the canvas. As the
paintings are developed
through intuition, spontaneity
and chance, no end result can
be preconceived, which
presents an exciting
challenge....
