Artist Statement:
I have been an artist all my life. My sister and I designed clothes at an early age. I won a scholarship to the Art Institute in Chicago and was exposed to great works of art. I have visited museums of art in Russia, Kiev, Moscow, Los Angeles,California, Hawaii, Chicago and Oklahoma. I designed jewelry for many years; I sold my jewelry through the Fresno Metropolitian Museum, Artsplace in OKC, Sears, and exhibitions. I worked as a photographer and writer and finally settled into fine art photography and watercolor painting. I was moved by the slave narratives and composed a series of watercolor paintings depicting with pathos their abject life-style in rather romaticized style, giving color to an otherwise drab and sorrow-filled existence.
I love flowers and take photos of them wherever I go: Hawaii, Oklahoma flora, and in my other travels. I have developed a series of notecards based on my enormous stock of floral photography. I love new things and am always experimenting: collages, black and white photography, acrylic and watercolor painting, jewelry design and other photographic techniques.
