LOSIER’S BIO
I graduating from Brock University with a BFA in Arts in 1989 and left in their collection a chalk pastel drawing entitled “On Your Mark” and an acrylic painting on their walls entitled “Unfinished Runner”. Since graduating my creativity focuses on my paintings in oils using the glazing method of painting, and realism with various themes. I also have another body of work that I do using various transfer art technique. In April 2007 I exhibited my new paintings of flowers at the Jordan Art Gallery in Jordan Station, and later moved these paintings to the Sunrise Art Gallery for their June Garden show.
As well as creating art I have been involved in the local art scene volunteering my time on committees for: St. Catherines Art Association, Niagara Artist Centre, a women’s art collective called “side by each” creating art together for a period of 10 years, and Arts Hamilton. In 1990 I worked on the Port Dalhousie Carousel repaint project. In 1994 I created a square of an oil painting of a swimmer for WARC’s country wide call for women to create a quilt project which travelled to various Galleries in Ontario. For my show “Where Beauty Lies…” at the Pumphouse in N-O-T-L in 2004, TVCOGECO made a 10 minute interview tape that was played on cable TV during my exhibition. I also have two photos of mine of cycling in the Niagara Peninsula published and included in Hans and Allyson Tammemagi book “Exploring Niagara – The complete guide to Niagara Falls and vicinity”. In 2006 I have turned my attention to teaching art with my first oil painting class being offered at the Sunrise Gallery in November.
