Artist Statement for Louise Wazbinski

|
In my floral paintings as in my abstract grid paintings, I take Realism as my point of departure into Impressionism and Abstraction. In all my paintings I incorporate my basic need for structure and organization in my life. They are all more or less self-portraits.
My painting style is the culmination of a life-long learning process and observation of nature.
I studied for many years at the Cleveland Institute of Art in the Painting and Drawing Departments with such renowned teachers as Jose' Cintron and Ed Mieczkowski and with
Mark Soppeland at the University of Akron. Also, throughout the years, I studied the almost extinct art of hand-altered (etched) Polaroid Photography.
