Camilo Lucarini: Serenity and Happiness.
By Rafael Squirru.
According to Winckelmann that renovated in the XVIII century the interest for the classic in middle of the Rococo period, the double base on which was seated the flavour for the Greco-Roman antiquity, was the Heiterkeit (serenity) and the Allgemeinheit (width or generality).
If we contemplate with attention the art of this period of Camilo Lucarini, we will see that it fulfills the width completely, but the serenity is smaller than what would have wanted Winckelmann. And it is that the German erudite when considering the art of the Hellenics had kept in mind Apollo's characteristics much above of the drunkenness of Dionysus whose paternity of the movement
transformed in dance, was also an essential part of the Greek soul.
Camilo Lucarini, born in Buenos Aires of parents from Ancona in the Adriatic Coast, dazzles us in this opportunity with his figures that perfectly could inscribe in the Neo-classicism of the present Canova. However, he also inspires himself by the big Roman fountains, as those of the Piazza Navona, or that of Trevi, without for it, forgetting our Nereidas of Buenos Aires.
Impossible to contemplate these works of italic inspiration and not to listen Otorino Respighi's chords, who drinking in the same fountains of inspiration, it immortalized them through the sound.
Lucarini for moments delights us with the serenity of “the lovers” or it drives us for the playful evocations of their “Putini” (little angels) that give place to valuable experiences on cardboards of different colors worked with acrylic and inks in the same way that his canvas are with acrylic and oils. This represents in all the cases a very clever dosage of the mediums that the artist dominates with the hierarchy of the teacher.
The obtained results are not fruit of the impromptu; a severe academic discipline served as base so that Lucarini can rise at the level of the classic, this is, of the perfect balance among mind, heart and hand, as Ruskin wanted it.
Moderation and clarity here synchronized with happiness and imagination.
A party for the sensitive spirits that do not fear the song of the sirens because they are properly tied to the mast of the mind.
