Artist Statement:
The “process” is very important to me, as are the materials I use. Design elements, a cloisonné approach (many layers of transparent colors), metal components and different types of paper; create paintings rich in texture, color and depth. I think in abstract and see abstracts in nature recurrently so, as an abstract artist, nature is a great inspiration and is always reflected somewhere within my paintings. I create from an intuitive level; this allows my process to be natural, spontaneous, and more receptive to the universal energies. I prefer to create in this manner, to become “one with the universe” in turn, one with the painting this speaks to my spiritual beliefs. Light is always an important part of my work, it becomes another element in the composition, a kinetic aspect, resulting in visual shifts to the surface. The use of light in my work gives the viewer a sense that a warm glow is emanating from within the painting, like the sun through colored glass. I also use black; as the structure on which everything else is constructed, it lends itself well to linear expression.
