Artist Statement:
Friedman seeks the dramatic
and poetic grandeur of nature
in paintings inspired by the
Hudson Valley and such varied
terrains such as the Arizona
desert, coast of Cornwall,
England and the High Sierras.
Her process  incorporates
exacting essence from a
location by seeking to explore
its emotive properties,
personal responses and
exploring the formal concerns
of light, color, and the
tactility of paint....

Reviews for Lynne Friedman:

"Friedman combines energetic brushwork and dazzling chiaroscuro in a succulently painterly landscape..."
Ed McCormack, Gallery & Studio, Jan/Feb '01

"Like Wolf Kahn and Neil Welliver, Lynne Friedman is a painter for whom landscape provides a springboard to pictorial solutions...not imitative of nature...endeavors to approximate its energy...Imbues landscape with the power of subjective vision..."
Barbara Lee Foster, Gallery & Studio, Mar/Apr '01

"Friedman's treatment of rich green foliage is reminiscent of the lush paintings by English artist John Constable..."
Mary Cassai, Kingston Daily Freeman, July 2000

"Friedman's paintings are dense with detail..."
Vernon Benjamin, Hudson Valley Historian & author, 2001

"The poetic grandeur of nature is expressed eloquently...creates work that embodies the emotive properties..."
