Artist Statement:
My pots have an historical
influence, yet I hope they
reflect a personal and
individual quality of feeling.
Above all, these pots are
intended to be good to live
with and interact with on a
daily basis. For me, good pots
spring from compassion. They
share with others what I feel
has beauty and balance. I
simply wish the work well at
each stage of creation and
attempt to bring as much
sincerity as I can muster to
bear on the work.
I favour a simple style and,
to some extent, subtlety.
Mostly I prefer more subdued
pieces that have a timeless
essence and depth but
occasionally I like to 'let
loose' and play a little with
bolder techniques. When I make
a piece that is used and
admired I feel I have created
something meaningful.
